Calming Rose Sugar & Salt Body Scrub

I love finding reasons to make convenient and easy homemade gift ideas. Since Mother’s day is right around the corner I thought I would share this delightful body scrub recipe. You know, to give you a great idea of what to do for your mama! It’s spring and everything is blooming so this spring/flower inspired body scrub is really the perfect gift for many reasons. Moms deserve to feel pampered, get some “me time”, time to de-stress, and feel relaxed. It’s also a huge bonus to take care of your skin and get that radiant glow we are all trying to achieve!

I used some dried roses for the luxurious scent. The lemon balm to help mom relax, chamomile and calendula for skin nourishment. When you make a body scrub, sugar is usually less abrasive than salts so I used about 1 cup of sugar and 1/4 cup of dead sea salt. The dead sea salt is great for many things especially for its minerals, calming effects, and increasing circulation. Grapeseed oil, olive oil, and almond oil are all extremely beneficial and soothing to the skin as is the aloe vera gel. Who wouldn’t want all of those goodies in a body scrub? If you wish you can add some essential oils for a stronger scent and for more skin benefiting properties. I would recommend storing this in a glass jar, and it should hold up for about a month. Mom will love this simple little gift, and if you are smart you would make a double batch and save half for yourself. 🙂

I also wanted to note that I was at first concerned about feeling to oily after using the scrub and sliding all over your shower (kidding about sliding all over the shower part). To my surprise this wasn’t an issue at all. Once I rinsed the scrub off my skin had absorbed some of the oils and my skin felt extremely soft. Everyone’s skin is different though, so keep that in mind. If you do feel too oily after using it, just re-wash with soap. Grind the Flowers and Herbs into a fine powder

Mix the dry ingredients together

The roses should already give off a wonderful scent

Add in all of your oils, and Aloe and mix together. (It shouldn’t be runny)

Store in a glass container

Ingredients
  1. 1 cup Sugar
  2. 1/4 cup Dead Sea Salt
  3. 1/4 cup Dried Roses
  4. 1/4 cup Dried Lemon Balm
  5. 1/4 cup Grapeseed oil
  6. 2 T. ground up Chamomile and Calendula
  7. 2 T. Olive Oil
  8. 2 T. Almond Oil
  9. 2 T. Aloe Vera Gel
Instructions
  1. Grind up herbs and flowers into a fine powder. (you can use a food processor or coffee grinder)
  2. Mix all of the dry ingredients (including herbs and flowers) together
  3. Add in your oils and aloe gel and mix with a fork until everything is combined. The scrub should feel kind of "fluffy"
  4. Store in a glass jar or container for up to 1 month
